Safaa Farid has been singing for and managing belly dancers in Egypt for over 25 years.  Over the course of his career he has performed with many different dancers in thousands of venues from the Caberettes of Harem to the best  five star Hotels in Cairo.  As an orchestra leader he has directed orchestras in nightclubs in Germany and Vienna, in theater engagments in Austrailia and England and in festivals in Finland and in Egypt (both the Ahlan w Sahlan and Nilegroup festivals).  He has recorded numerouse songs for CD’s of bellydance music and acted as art director and producer of CD’s for many international and egyptian dance artists.  He has also appeared in three films singing with dancers.

Safaa Farid has directed some of the most successful dance CD’s produced in Egypt today.  Safaa can organize all aspect of CD production.  As art director he can recommend songs to suit an individual dancer’s taste and style, commision original music and song combinations, and direct individualised solos (tabla, accordian, nay, etc.)  Mr. Farid can manage the ellements of recording such as the muscians, singers, studio and mixing.

As a singer, Safaa’s velvet voice has given dancers the songs of Om Kalthoum, Abdel Halim Hafez, Farid Attrash, Mitkal, Mohamed Roushdy and many other Egyptian and Middle Eastern singers.  His recordings are in demand throughout the world as the perfect marriage of artistry and dancability.

Safaa Farid and his Orchestra Negum:

Safaa Farid and his Orchestra Negum are demand throughout the world. This Egyptian orchestra consists of keyboardist, nay, accordion, tabla, dehula, duff and singer. (shabbi singer, tanoura “whirling dirvish”, oud, aunoon and extra rythm can be added to suit each event).  Safaa Farid and Orchestra Negum are proffesional and versatile performers. They have toured Europe, England and Australia with dancers from Egypt as well as playing for local dancers in formal, concert style shows. Orchestra Negum has aslo provided music for festivals with "hafla" style shows were dancers sign-up to perform to live music. They are available to provide live music for workshops and can teach workshops on most of the instruments represented in the orchestra.
